I need to sew!

Hello

Well the last few weeks have been a whirlwind.  Between the school holidays, a trip to Scotland to see all the rellies (or the Clan as my hubby calls them), and my mum & dad here all last week I have barely touched my sewing machine.

Don't get me wrong it has been fantastic seeing everyone and then obviously a lot of Olympic watching has gone on - we were lucky enough to get tickets so we went to see weightlifting and taekwondo.  Fabulous atmosphere (particularly the taekwondo where there were Brits competing), excellent organisation and friendly helpful volunteers.

But now I am desperate to get sewing. First up I need to finish off my Brit Swap round 3 mini.

I thought I'd finished the embroidery but my little fox is disappearing into the background so I think I'll have to unpick the white and redo it in grey or very pale brown.

I will also have to rethink the border - originally I was going to have a rainbow pieced border in the same fabrics as the tree but I tried it and it was WAAAAAY to much!  Detracted from the tree and looked over busy.  So I need a new plan - thinking about using green, brown and blue, strategically placed to look like grass, sky and continuation of the tree.

As for quilting I know what I want to do but my free motion skills may not be up to it - some practice sandwiches are in order.

And once this is finished I need to get on quilting my Mum's quilt (she dropped several unsubtle hints whilst she was here that).

I'm on holiday this week so hopefully will have some time to get on with things.  And I'm off to the Festival of Quilts on Thursday so that should be great fun.

Bye for now
Sarah
