This week I have been mostly making bags

Hello

Yes it seems to have been a week of bags - the only sewing I have done.

First off I finally finished up the paper pieced tote bag I was asked to make.

And then I made myself a bag.
I bought the 241 tote pattern last year but could never decide what fabric to make it in but then I saw this at Backstitch

Alegria by Cloud9
I loved it but couldn't see myself using it for a quilt and then I thought about the 241 tote pattern, and here it is:

The pockets are a second print from Alegria and the body is a linen/cotton blend also from Backstitch.  I love it and it makes me happy.

The pattern is great and comes together really nicely - I'm already thinking about making another one!

In other news this is what we came home to on Tuesday night

Yes a swarm of honeybees had settled on the kids slide!  So I called the Cambridgeshire Beekeepers Association and was given the numbers of various local beekeepers.  One phone call later and a very nice chap arrived to collect them.

The kids were fascinated - the wee man loved seeing him in his full kit and the little lady was fascinated by his 'magic box' as she kept calling it (a small portable hive he brought to collect them).

Anyway not much else of note so bye for now!
Sarah

PS There is still time to enter my give away

  2. I love the bags! One of my quests for the year is to make my own funky bag. Yours are great!

I am very scared by the thought that a swarm of bees can just come and make themselves at home on my children's play equipment, but quietly relieved that there are men in vans with boxes to deal with this sort of problem.,

  4. A bag was the perfect choice for the peacock fabric. Love the bag. I would have freaked out if I had come home to a swarm of bees in my yard. What an interesting post. Thanks for sharing.
